I Am ISDA
/What is the International Sonoran Desert Alliance? Is it an Environmental Organization? Is it an Arts & Culture Group? Is it a Community Development Corporation? Yes to all. But first and foremost it is a place-based membership organization committed to preserving and enriching the environment, culture and economy of the Sonoran Desert. By design, the members of the corporation are crucial in determining how this mission is interpreted and what activities are deemed most impactful in bringing the vision to fruition. With such a broad range of programming, it can be challenging to effectively capture the essence of an organization. So, we are reaching out to staff, board members, clients and members like you to help us tell the ISDA story. We invite you to share your answer to the ISDA question with us. What is ISDA? You are ISDA
Name: Lorraine Marquez-Eiler
ISDA Connection: Founding Member & Board Member
From the beginning, I have always felt fortunate about what my hometown, my teachers and my parents have given me. I have been blessed by coming back to Ajo after year living away and seeing the joy that all of these ISDA programs bring. I am sitting here in the middle of the Cultural Crafts group and I can hear the joy in the voices of the women around me. I am grateful to have been a part of this. The ability to give back to your community is a wonderful gift.
Name: Joshua Manuel
ISDA Connection: Former Apprentice and Current Staff
ISDA has given me a future I did not have before encountering them. They provided me with training for a career without strug-gling to pay bills with their apprenticeship program and allowed me to pass on my knowledge to future apprentices afterward.
Name: Bryanne Olsen
ISDA Connection: Longtime Supporter and Member
Don loved the spirit of the little town of Ajo. He could see the potential of ISDA purchasing the Plaza and spearheaded that project. His vision of our small business, Olsens Marketplace IGA, growing and prospering depended on the growth of others. We are dedicated to continuing his passion of the entrepreneurial spirit through ISDA’s leadership.
