In the fall of 2017, the International Sonoran Desert Alliance (ISDA) with support from the HUD Rural Innovation Fund convened a cohort of makers and creatives to explore the potential for e-commerce to play a larger role in expanding economic opportunity for isolated rural communities like Ajo, Arizona. Three years later, we are excited to see that initiative continuing to bear fruit through the Ajo Artisans Online virtual storefront. Ajo Artisans Online represents a critical mass of Ajo-based creatives and entrepreneurs who believe that collective action, co-marketing and a supportive ecosystem can result in all boats rising. ISDA is a proud supporter of https://ajoartisans.org/ and we are thankful to USDA Rural Development and Kickstart Ajo for making this e-commerce platform possible.
We invite you to curate your own virtual #OnlyinAjo experience by visiting the site and supporting the artists and entrepreneurs listed there. At ISDA we believe that resilient communities are nimble communities that are well-poised to adapt to changing circumstances. We invite you to join us in helping Ajo to become a more resilient Sonoran Desert Community.
